The pair of autograph books belonged to a Ms Amnah binte Alwi, a former Malay teacher as well as an alumnus of the Maktab Perguruan Perempuan Melayu, or Malay Women's Training College (MWTC) that was established in Malacca in 1934. The MWTC was one of the few training colleges for aspiring Malay women teachers including from Singapore. The autograph book documents Ms Amnah's move from her days as a student at the MWTC to her new residence in Geylang, Singapore, as well as the hopes and aspirations of an emergent class of newly formally-educated Malay women amidst post-independence Singapore and Malaysia. The MWTC was later renamed the Institute of Teacher's Education, Perempuan Melayu Campus (IPGKPM).
