This postcard depicts Collyer Quay, with boats in the foreground and the quay itself in the background. Collyer Quay was built in 1864 using convict labour and named after its designer, George Collyer. A written message on the back of the postcard observes that ‘This is the only seaport from which one can embark for any place in the world’.
