Hair Book

This book is an early artwork by Tang Da Wu, made in 1975 while he was living in London. The Hairbook was made using hair from the artist. The use of such discarded organic material reflect Tang’s ongoing desire to question the status of the art object. This long-standing part of his practice extended into the 1980s and 90s, with the earth works made in 1979, and the performances of the late 1980s and 1990s. The book thus provides an important example of one of his earliest artistic experiments.
