Lady Sophia Raffles was the wife of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, who established a British East India Company trading factory in Singapore in 1819. This book compiles the life and letters of Baroness Frances Bunsen, wife of the German diplomat and scholar Baron Bunsen, who was a close friend of Lady Raffles. It contains accounts of the last years of Lady Raffles’ life.
