Portrait of Sir Thomas Stamford RafflesArtist: Engraved by Lizars, after the print by S. Cousins, after Francis Chantrey

Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles established a British East India Company trading factory in Singapore in 1819. This line engraving with etching was produced based on an earlier mezzotint portrait by Samuel Cousins, which itself was based on a marble bust of Raffles by Sir Francis Chantrey. This print was engraved and published for the Naturalist’s Library.
