Arthur Westrop was a British agricultural chemist and naturalist who was interned in Changi and Sime Road camps after the fall of Singapore. During his internment, he kept a diary of around 400 pages entitled 'A Letter To My Wife'. The title of the diary was also inscribed in both Chinese and Japanese on the cover. Diary entries were written in the form of letters to his wife and the diary also contained paintings of Changi done by Harold Young, a fellow civilian internee.
