This quilt is an exact replica of the quilt that was made by female civilian internees during their internment in Changi Prison. It was made by seniors from the Asian Women's Welfare Association. The original quilt is currently with the British Red Cross, and was stitched as a means of passing time but also as a way of communicating with their loved ones in the men's camp, as each square of the quilt contained the name of the woman who stitched it, indicating that they had survived.
