This sketch was drawn in pen and depicts an attap hut of the sort used by POWs. The hut along with the tents in the background suggest that this view was of Changi prison. Upon the completion of the Thai-Burma railway, thousands of POWs returned to Changi, resulting in overcrowding. Attap huts and tents had to be built in the courtyards to mitigate the situation.
