In Untitled (Hua Lamphong}, Thasnai Sethaseree continues his practice of understanding by making in his now iconic Lanna papercut technique on monks robes. Spanning 8 metres long and 4 metres high, Untitled(Hua Lamphong) is one of Thasnai's largest works to date, it's titanic scale correlating to his continued examination of the concept of 'the spectacle'. The "super-saturated" all-over style employed by the artist consists of more than 15 layers of paper painstakingly collaged. Embedded deep within the palimpsest, a grandiose image of Thailand's iconic Hua Lamphong train station presents itself when viewers step back and train their eyes to see beyond the clutter and obfuscations layered above it. In terms of scale, saturation, and complexity, Untitled (Hua Lamphong) checks all the boxes in Thasnai's quest to produce a work of immersive and consuming spectacle.
