The seal is carved with the Chinese characters 伍连德印 – “Wu Lien Teh's mark”.Wu Lien Teh (1879–1960) founded the Penang Anti-Opium Association, and is best known for having contained and eliminated a pneumonic plague in Manchuria that had claimed 60,000 lives in 1910–11.
