This covered box is decorated with scrolling vegetal motifs on the body, while the lid features triangular abstract patterns. The modelled knob on the cover simulates the calyx and stem of a fruit. The designs are incised and rendered in iron-brown pigments against a creamy white background. Covered boxes were one of the most representative type of Sawankhalok wares produced.
