Originating from the Indian subcontinent, the Indian martial arts of Silambam and Kalari-Payat was introduced to Malaya through Master Marama Assan Ebenezer Dharmaraj Nadar who set-up the Kalari-Payat club in Ipoh, Malaysia in 1938. Following his father’s footsteps, Master E Edward founded the Kalari-Payat Silambam Centre in Singapore in 1970s, and it was officially registered as under the Singapore Martial Arts Association in 1988.
