Teak mahjong table by Diethelm

This teak mahjong table belonged to Mr and Mrs Lee Swee Cheng. Mr Lee Swee Cheng was a prominent stockbroker and Mrs Elsie Lee served as President of the Chinese Women’s Assocation in 1961 and 1962. This table is one of a pair, custom-made by Diethelm & Co, for mahjong sessions with close friends. One table was played by husbands and one table by wives. Quadrant-shaped drawers swing out from each of the four corners and are for holding coloured chips during games.
