This pink kebaya has a checked pattern running through it, and each square containing red and purple lines forming a diamond shape. Dark purple embroidery decorates its borders. The kebaya is a short tunic that was worn by Peranakan womenover a camisole and paired with a sarong. It gained popularity amongst the Peranakan community in the early 20th century, replacing the baju panjang as the fashionable clothing of choice. This kebaya belonged to Mdm Ong Siew Choo (1930-2012), a homemaker.
