This large ceramic dish is the work of an Iranian potter imitating designs of Chinese blue-and-white porcelain. Several centres in Iran started manufacturing blue-and-white wares during the 16th century, after Chinese examples were traded into the region. The Iranian products follow the shapes, designs, and decoration of Chinese porcelain, while also incorporating traditional Iranian elements to suit the local market.
