Sarong

The kepala (head) of this batik blue sarong (tubular skirtcloth) is decorated with diagonal strips of darker blue filled with flowers and leaves. Diagonal strips of floral motifs decorate the badan (body). This sarong would have been worn with an open jacket with V-shaped lapels known as the kebaya. Sombre colours of black, blue and green were considered appropriate for mourning periods in the 20th century.
