A pair of chairs with formica backrest and seat

Formica was commonly used as a surface laminate in furniture from the 1950s to the 1970s because of its low cost and cheerful appearance. Though there was a wide range of colours, patterns and effects for furniture makers and consumers to choose from, the green formica was most commonly used on tables and chairs in Singapore. Here the metal legs and frame of the chairs were painted green to match the formica laminates.
