The beaded face of this pair of slippers shows a Caucasian girl seated by her pet dog. In the early 20th century, European motifs were adapted into the repertoire of Nyonya beadwork. The slipper faces were probably made by Chong Kim Neo (1916-1972). She made beaded slippers and garments from her home as she did not own a shop.
