This photograph is part of a collection titled Souvenir de Deli, comprising the works of C. J. Kleingrothe, a photographer based in Sumatra in the late 19th and early 20th century. Both photographs depict views of Kesawan Street in Medan, considered the oldest street in Medan. The photograph below shows the location of Kleingrothe’s new studio at Kesawan.
