Photochrom of Battery Road

This photograph shows Battery Road, with stately buildings on both sides. The shop sign of the Dispensary hangs prominently from the balcony. ‘20212. P. Z. – Singapore. Battery Road’ is printed at the bottom edge of the photograph. Built sometime between 1827 and 1829, Battery Road was first built as an access way to a battery known as Fort Fullerton, a function which gave the road its name.
