Rolleiflex I

The Rolleiflex was introduced by the German company Franke & Heidecke in 1929. It was a welcomed improvement from the smaller format of the 35mm film and was popular among both professional and amateur photographers. In Singapore, the camera was available in shops like Singapore Photo Co. which was located at High Street in 1931.Before the advent of the portable camera in the late 19th century, the taking of photographs was limited to the studio. However portable cameras remained affordable only to the rich until the first decades of the 20th century.
