Vest Pocket

The Vest Pocket was the first of a long series that started in 1912. Portability was its most appealing feature for it measured merely an inch thick when closed. To use it, the lens and shutter were pulled out and allowed to rest on struts. Before the advent of the portable camera in the late 19th century, the taking of photographs was limited to the studio. However portable cameras remained affordable only to the rich until the first decades of the 20th century.
