Kain Gubah or Kain Kasang are warp ikat textiles made of rough hand spun cotton. This textile is decorated with different geometric patterns such as rhombuses, triangles and lines arranged in horizontal bands. These patterns were achieved using warp threads in various shades of brown and blue. In the Javanese context, these textiles were used as movable walls or screens that demarcate spaces for private or ceremonial use. Such textiles are similar to cotton warp ikat textiles that in central Sulawesi in terms of its design, colour and ceremonial function.
