This Buddhist rosary belonged to belonged to a Cantonese female domestic helper, Ms Leong Kun Toh who was a practicing Buddhist. It would have been used for prayers and recitation of mantras. While some majies like Kun Toh would live with their employers until they passed on, other majies choose to stay at Buddhist-run chai tong; or “vegetarian houses,” upon retirement.
