This white wedding dress has long puffy sleeves and illusion netting decorating the top half of the bodice, complementing the full skirt. Flower applique and embroidery complete the look. This was the wedding dress of Sylvia Kho’s daughter, Sophie Kho. To ensure perfection, her mother spent one and a half months on the dress, along with three helpers.Sylvia Kho is one of Singapore’s earliest postwar bridal designers, known for her stylish Western-style white wedding gowns. . Initially starting as a home-based business in 1946, she later went overseas to acquire western dressmaking and other bridal-related service skills. In 1968, she established a boutique, offering a complete bridal service in Tanglin Shopping Centre. Its clientele included brides of wealthy businessmen, politicians, and members of royalty from the region. She was inducted into the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame in 2017.
