Gift of Winson Tan in memory of the late Edward Tan TL
This is a gold ornament in the shape of the Chinese character Tai. Based on the holes at specific parts of the character, this ornament would have been sewn down on a textile like a handkerchief or possibly a wedding headband.This item is part of a group donation from descendants of Tan Kim Seng and Tan Jiak Kim. Both were wealthy merchants, philanthropists and leaders of the local Hokkien community.
