The “Shashin Shuho” was a weekly pictorial journal published by the Japanese government's Cabinet Intelligence Department, which was established in 1937. The journal was originally published to promote awareness of government policies and publicity campaigns to the Japanese public through photography. A total of 370 issues of the “Shashin Shuho” were published, with the first issue published in 1938. In this issue number 206, the focus was on the imminent capture of Singapore and the Imperial Japanese Army’s push into Malaya and Burma.
