Dish with the Arms of the de Muinck family

This dish bears the coat of arms of the de Muinck family from the city of Middelburg, Netherlands. Japanese lacquered objects were very popular in Europe between the 16th and 18th centuries. Many westerners commissioned pieces from Japan. This armorial dish was probably privately commissioned by a member of the de Muinck family, and the form is likely modelled after a Dutch pewter dish.
