This puttu maker is of highly unusual design, comprising of a brass pot, with five bamboo inserts. Puttu is a popular breakfast/snack in Kerala, made of a mix of steamed broken rice and grated coconut. The mix of rice and coconut would be stuffed into the bamboo tubes, and then steamed by heating the water in the pot.
