The 25-pounder field gun was the standard field artillery weapon of the British and Commonwealth armies in World War II, designed to replace the 18-pounder and 4.5-inch howitzer that were the main field artillery equipment of World War I. The 25-pounder gun was also deployed in Malaya and Singapore during World War II.
