This is the programme for a charity performance of Emily of Emerald Hill organized by the Lions Club of Singapore in 1990. This performance was significant as it was the first show that Malaysian actress Pearlly Chua took on the title role. Pearlly holds the distinction of having played the role of Emily Gan more times than any other actress. She has acted in the play almost annually since 1990. Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
