The songs in this record, “J’attendrai - Slow Foxtrot” and “The Wedding Samba” were by Joe Loss and his orchestra.. Loss was one of the most popular band leaders of the big band era in the UK in the 1940s. Known for featuring a wide variety of famous guest singers on his records. These songs were recorded by His Majesty’s Voice (HMV). Music from England and America were gaining popularity amongst Peranakans in Singapore and the Straits during the early 20th century. Musical bands and troupes were formed during this period and they would perform at celebratory occasions organized by Peranakans such as birthdays and weddings.
