This charger is painted with gold over underglaze red and blue enamels, a palette inspired by the Japanese style of decorating porcelain known as Imari. In the centre is the territorial arms of the Flemish city of Meggelen (Mechelen), enclosed in an architectural frame with two Chinese ladies. A coat of arms is a unique design that identifies a city, family, or sometimes an organization.
