The Vehicle quota system was implemented in May 1990 and the vehicle entitlement exercise was held on a monthly basis for people to bid for a Certificate of entitlement (COE). This particular COE belonged to Janes Wee Hong Geik and was only valid for a short period of three months from 1 April 1990 to 30 Jun 1990. The premium paid by the owner was $3500. This artefact was part of the selection in the time capsule buried in 1990 by then DPM Ong Teng Cheong to celebrate Singapore’s 50th anniversary of independence in 2015.
