This is a programme of the 1987 performance of Emily of Emerald Hill by Malaysian actress Leow Puay Tin in Penang. Puay Tin was the first actress to portray the title character of Emily Gan in Malaysia in 1984, a year before Dr Margaret Chan, the first Singaporean. Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
