This is 'Ah King', a collection of short stories written by Somerset Maugham. This copy is the pocket edition published in 1936. The stories are based on Maugham's travels in the Federated Malay States and Southeast Asia. The collection is dedicated to Ah King, the man Maugham engaged to assist him on his travels whilst in Southeast Asia. Maugham stayed in the Raffles Hotel whilst visiting Singapore. The present Raffles Hotel has a suite named after Somerset Maugham.
