The Tang Shipwreck was acquired through the generous donation of the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.
This bowl, featuring a sketchy landscape decoration, is one of the most significant Changsha bowls recovered from the wreck. It bears an inscription on the exterior of the bowl that has been taken to read: “the 16th day of the 7th month of the 2nd year of the Baoli era” 寳曆二年七月十六日. This refers to a specific summer's day in the year 826 and marks the earliest date the ship could have sailed.
