This is a photography album put together by W. R. Wallace, a well-to-do American from California who travelled by fancy cars through Indonesia in 1928. Later on in 1937, he and his wife passed through Singapore on a similar tour before heading to Penang and Melaka. Wallace is known particularly for his interest in aerial photography, and owned a Fairchild aviation camera. On many of his visits, he would charter a flight in order to secure a series of aerial views. Such views are found in this album of Java, depicting aerial perspectives of the General Motors facility at Tanjong Priok. Many of the photographs are interior views of the facility, depicting the production process and a showroom of GM car models. Another highlight of this album is a fold-out panorama of Tanjong Priok.
