This is a poster signed by actress Jalyn Han for the first Mandarin language production of Stella Kon’s Emily of Emerald Hill, staged by Kuo Pao Kun’s Practice Theatre Ensemble. Kuo Pao Kun was on the panel of judges that awarded Stella Kon first place for Emily in the 1983 National Playwriting Competition and was also the artistic director for this version. The Chinese-language version of Stella Kon’s iconic play allowed Emily to reach a wider audience, suggestive of the popularity of the play in the late 1980s and early 1990s as well as the success of the play among both English and non-English speakers.
