Ikat patterning characteristic of patolu can be composed of plant, zoomorphic, anthropomorphic and abstract geometrical motifs. This silk cloth is solely based on plant and abstract geometrical motifs. It is composed of four heart-shaped leaves arranged in cross shapes. While the leaves are attached by short stems to a central oval that looks like a jewel with setting. The composition of this textile is known as 'vohra gaji bhat'. Vohra is the name of Shia Muslims and Gaji (fabric made of silk and cotton combined) means type. It has been suggested that this type of patolu is used only by the Vohra or at least known to be by far their favourite type. Some Indian scholars also referred this composition as ratan chowk or a combination of ratan chowk and pan bhat.
