Collection of
Chinese enamels of great quality were produced in the imperial Chinese workshops. Many objects were made for export to European markets.By the Qianlong period, an imperial workshop had been established at Canton, and production of painted enamel was highly sophisticated. The variety of colors expanded under Qianlong’s reign, and this basin is painted in colours distinctly belonging to the Qianlong period, such as dark turquoise green, purple, and pink.
