A bikini is a type of women’s swimwear, which comprises of a top and a matching bottom. This particular bikini top is made of cotton and features a floral motif. Louis Reard is credited for inventing the modern bikini in 1946. It was named after Bikini Atoll in the Pacific, the area where atom bomb testing was conducted by the U.S. Army. Controversial at first, the bikini was eventually considered as acceptable swimwear by the 1960s.
