This section of an elephant's head has painted iron-brown decoration covered by a clear greenish glaze. It could originally have been part of a decorative figure, one of many types of figurines made during this time.Such Thai wares would have been found widely distributed from the Philippines, Java and Sulawesi to Japan. In Java and Sulawesi, they were used as ritual purposes as burial objects or 'pusaka' or heirlooms. While in Japan, they were used in the tea ceremony tradition.
