This is one of a pair of gloves which belonged to the donor’s grandmother. In the 1950s, a lot of women still wore gloves with their outfits, which not only complemented the dress but also gave it a more formal appearance. However by the 1960s, youths no longer adopted the trend as they saw gloves as old-fashioned.
