Qur'an

This Qur'an from Trengganu is written in 'naskh' calligraphy with three very finely illuminated double-pages in gold and colours at the beginning, middle and end of the manuscript. The use of gold was traditionally reserved for royal patronage and these manuscripts are relatively rare. The large size of this Qur'an is typical of the ones produced for Malay royalty in Terengganu. This Qur'an was likely to have been used by the Sultan on special occassions.
