This female carved wooden figure was probably used by the Kalanguya people as a ritual object. It would likely have been used in ceremonies meant to honour and obtain favour from the gods and ancestors. The Kalanguya believe that giving offerings of food and liquor would ensure a good harvest and avert calamities and misfortune.
