Australian Home Journal magazine

The cover of this magazine shows an illustration of three different ensembles. The magazine provides the paper tissue patterns and instructions to make them at home. More outfits are illustrated in the magazine and the patterns could be bought by mail order. Australian Home Journal initially started as a fashion magazine, featuring mostly fashion-related content such as sewing and knitting patterns, fashion tips and updates on the latest trends. It was only when the Australian Consolidated Press became the publisher in 1965 that the emphasis of the magazine shifted from fashion to homemaking in general. Such magazines were imported after World War Two and sold at various bookshops in Singapore.
