This is a gilded standing figure of St. Vincent, the Apostle of Charity. The figure has detachable hands, head and staff. St.Vincent is the patron of charitable societies. The Catholic icons illustrate how religious images were probably adapted from imported prototypes and produced locally, sometimes in a style that embodied traditional Vietnamese features. The Catholic icons are typical of the types worshipped in churches or in family shrines in the home during the 18th century and onwards.
