An artist’s impression of the Hong Leong Building

Situated at the junction of Raffles Quay and Cross Street, the Hong Leong Building was completed in 1974 at a cost of over $50 million. Originally designed to house a city within its walls, the towering structure comprises a podium base for housing retail, food and service outlets and a tower block segment for offices, exhibition halls and residential apartments. Approval was initially sought to construct a helicopter landing pad on the rooftop but this was rejected by the authorities due to safety concerns over allowing helicopters to fly over the busy downtown area. The building continues to stand in the heart of the financial district.
