This postcard shows the Empress Place where the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles can be seen on the bottom right. It was unveiled at the Padang on 27 June 1887 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee, and later moved to Empress Place during the Centenary Celebrations - 100 years after Raffles founded modern Singapore - on 6 February 1919.
